He Will Bring Justice

Watching the news has always been depressing, but what has really struck me of late is the world’s call for justice. Justice. What does it even mean? One of the definitions of justice from the Oxford Dictionary is “the quality of being fair and reasonable,” and another is “a concern for justice, peace, and genuine respect for people.” [1]The Oxford Dictionary online. http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/justice So ultimately, justice is a desire to see all people treated well, and in a manner that is fair to all. Now this is where it becomes tricky, because we need to determine what fairness is,...

Another Golden Image?

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king.  But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.” Daniel 3:16-18 Through the US election this year, we have witnessed history in the making. Book Review: None Like Him

It’s no secret that Jen Wilkin is my favourite female Christian author. She writes with such clarity and conviction in a way that is easy to understand and relate to. In her latest book, None Like Him- 10 Ways God Is Different From Us, she does not disappoint. I can best describe this book as a modern version of The Attributes of God, by A.W. Pink. Jen chooses ten of God’s characteristics; He is Infinite, Incomprehensible, Self-Existent, Self-Sufficient, Eternal, Immutable, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent, and Sovereign. Then she gives a description not only of how God displays these characteristics, but...

It seems to me that regardless of how many times I read the Bible, I am struck anew with something every day. Something I’ve read before, maybe hundreds and hundreds of times. I had one of those moments last night. This year in my daily Bible readings, I am using a Chronological Bible. I am always interested to know where everything fits in chronologically, so my new Bible meets that need wonderfully. Last night I read through the first few chapters of each of the gospels which give an account of the birth of Jesus, the birth of John...
